Martin D28 Meets Cobblestone

This 2000’s Martin D28 felt the cobblestones of Ireland as it fell to the street in a gig bag. It has numerous cracks and separations, inside & out. Hope that missing piece of herringbone trim isn’t a problem.
Long side cracks. Right below the kerfed linings where you’d rather not see them. The owner duct taped the guitar to hold it together for his last few performances and this guitar has the easy peeling lacquer that some millennial Martins seem to have. Saving it was near impossible in this case.
A couple grafts and several fancy clamping sessions later…
The guitar is glued up and I was able to find that missing piece of herringbone in the case. Now to deal with the missing lacquer. I’ll have to do some strategic spraying and fancy sanding after application.
She’s back in action and doesn’t look too much worse for wear.
